Emergency Housing Program (EHP)

HSNY offers assistance with securing entitlements/benefits, submitting housing applications and documentation for receiving housing subsidies/rental assistance, priority access to landlords/brokers, guidance on tenants’ rights, and responsibilities prior to leasing, and accompaniment to housing viewings.

Program Eligibility:
The NYC Human Resources Administration (HRA) refers eligible clients to Emergency Housing facilities managed by HSNY.

Program Features and Accomplishments:
HSNY works together with HRA to ensure quality services are being provided to clients residing in EHP facilities. HSNY Program provides daily oversight of assigned facility providers that are located in all NYC boroughs -Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens and Staten Island. HSNY oversees facility providers to ensure they adhere to NYC Housing standards and codes and offer social service referrals to clients as necessary.

HSNY inspectors conduct in-person inspections of facilities in our portfolio to ensure health and safety standards are maintained. Inspection-related concerns are monitored with prompt follow-up. HSNY monitors providers’ compliance with tracking occupancy and availability of community linkages for needed social service referrals for clients. HSNY’s Vendor Managers communicate daily with EHP housing providers to ensure NYC HRA provider standards and requirements are met. HSNY also monitors all client complaints and incidents. In addition, there is a 24/7 hotline number for nightly and weekend coverage.
